Anger Management
Anger Management
Many of us have heard of having a ‘short fuse. In my therapy I seek to lengthen one’s fuse and increase the control a person can choose to have over their frustrations. I aid clients in exploring the benefits of a variety of coping tools, while also working to help clients let go of the stressors that don’t matter. I often hear clients report they are not bothered by certain triggers and yet they also report that sooner or later that exhibit an outburst of anger. By not truly processing their anger and instead letting it build up, the anger grows until the person is unable to contain it anymore. I aspire to help clients indentify what is at the core of their frustration and examine what they can (and cannot) do about a particular situation. I believe in the power of realizing and identifying the frustrations that come your way and then examining what choices you have for handling them. Truly changing your behaviors takes time, practice, and most importantly a strong desire to do things differently in your life.
How long is your fuse? What makes it ignite? What catalysts exist to make it burn faster? How do you put it out before it explodes? I believe that anger is something we all feel to varying degrees. If you are seeking help with any of these questions I would value the opportunity to help you find more peace and contentment in your life.
