Couples Counseling

One of the initial questions that I ask couples to consider is whether you and your partner are choosing to be together? Furthermore are you willing to listen to you partner and focus your efforts on the growth of your relationship? If yes, my main goal is to assist you in your ability to engage in effective communication with your partner. Everyone has faults, including your partner. My goal is not to change your partner into being the perfect counterpart, but to help you acknowledge his or her faults and strengths. When you truly communicate effectively, you can converse about what little things your partner can do to strengthen your relationship. Since almost all couples seek counseling when they are having difficulties, their focus is usually on the negative aspects of the relationship. In addition to addressing the issues in the relationship I also seek to find the positives and pleasures that couples sometimes forget or don’t actively appreciate. Although there may be some really difficulty sessions in order to really hear what the other person needs to say, in the end I believe that you can have a stronger relationship and more positive bond. I value the growth that can come from being open with your partner. I also utilize an approach, which emphasizes the importance for clients to work on their issues outside of the office setting by implementing what is discussed in sessions.
